Raised in the little town of Elkton, right in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley, Sara grew up amidst the townsfolk who her famous photographer father, Hobby Robinson, had captured on film and subsequently in nine self-published books.  Her father was a first generation born in the United States from Jewish Lithuanian immigrants. In fact, her family was only one of two Jewish families in Elkton. Her maternal great-grandmother was of German Jewish background and was considered the religious authoritarian of the family. Rumor had it that she could speak fluently five languages and curse in seven.  Sara’s mother was of German-Irish protestant stock and was remarkable for her Jane Fonda-like beauty as well as her musical talents.

Giving way, in retirement, to her love of creative writing, Sara penned her inaugural work: a memoir, titled Love Always, Hobby and Jessie (November 2009). She tells the stories of her parents and their tumultuous marriage which lasted over fifty years.  Focusing mostly on the early years of their marriage, Sara exposes the reader to all the intimacy of Hobby and Jessie as they try to sort out their relationship and their child; then concludes with both finally accepting each others’ flaws. Her memoir was given a 4-star review by the highly regarded site, “CMash Loves to Read.”

Sara has appeared twice on Artist First Radio Network, the Hilda Ward Show, Artistic Expressions, and at numerous author book signings.  Her poetry collection, Two Little Girls in a Wading Pool(Cedar Creek Publishing, 2012) has just been released. Future projects include another poetry book planned for release in 2014 and a series of murder-mystery novellas centered around a fictional town in the Shenandoah Valley.

She is a member of The Virginia Writers’ Club, the Blue Ridge Writers’ Chapter, The Poetry Society of Virginia, the Academy of American Poets, the Elkton Historical Society, and the National League of American Pen Women.  One can find out more about her on her Facebook page, Goodreads, and her Authors’ page on Amazon.com.  Her website is www.saramrobinson.com

Sara resides in Albemarle County near Charlottesville.
