The Virginia Festival of the Book, which takes place March 20-24, 2013, is a celebration of books, authors, and reading.
It is produced by the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities, established in 1974 to encourage discovery and connection through the humanities by supporting and producing programs for a wide public audience. The Festival is now the largest educational book event in the mid-Atlantic, drawing a cumulative annual attendance of more than 20,000.
This year hundreds of authors, illustrators, storytellers, and other publishing professionals in every genre are
participating, including C. J. Box, Douglas Brinkley, 1968 Olympian Dr. John Carlos, Frank Deford, John Grisham,
Jane Leavy, The Honorable John Lewis (D-GA), Betty Shotton, U.S. Poet Laureate Natasha Tretheway,
Tim Wendel, Eric Wight, and Dave Zirin.
